Our school year has started with a great deal of excitement with new arrivals and fresh opportunities. This term we have even more enthusiasm than usual as the New Year has seen us moving forward to officially become an Academy.

On the 1st January 2010 The College High Specialist Arts School became the North Birmingham Academy (NBA). And it’s not just the name that has changed! Following extensive consultation with current students, the logo and brand identity, have been introduced. It has been designed with students’ full involvement and support to capture the essence of our new Academy.

North Birmingham Academy will build on our record examination results of 2009 by reaching new heights and within three years will move into our purpose built school, which will give our pupils the 21st century educational facilities they deserve.

Our new identity has been applied to everything from stationery and signage; to our brand new minibus livery and our new look website. With the help of our sponsor, EACT (Edutrust Academies Charitable Trust), NBA will be building on the progress we’ve already made as a school to keep the momentum going as we enter a period of positive change. We will provide ‘excellence in education for all’. Our focus moving ahead is on our students as individuals, a personalised approach to learning, outstanding teaching, high levels of motivation and a positive ethos that promotes tolerance and respect for others, all supported by the development of the best possible facilities and resources.

Academy status has provided us with a host of additional opportunities which will benefit not only the school, but the local community as a whole. NBA’s facilities will be made available to a wide range of voluntary groups, sports clubs and local businesses making the changes here really exciting for us all!
